On the occasion of World Hearing Day 2024 promoted by the World Health Organization.

Hearing loss has often been called an “invisible disability,” not only because of the lack of visible symptoms, but also because it has long been stigmatized in social communities and ignored in strategic policy decisions.
Seven percent of the world’s population has hearing loss, often accompanied by tinnitus, which affects their quality of life.

It is estimated that by 2050, more than 900 million people (or 1 in 10) will have hearing loss with significant social disability.
The World Health Organization has called on governments, industry partners, doctors, and civil society to raise awareness and implement standards in everyday work and leisure activities that ensure
and promote safe listening, according to strict scientific audiological criteria capable of managing any situation with a potential risk of hearing damage (smartphones, music players, industry, urban environments, gyms, public transport, gathering places) .
